The Great Job Search of 2013

It has been so long since I last posted to my blog that I can’t remember if I mentioned that I am currently looking for a new position in the US.  I have applied to a couple companies in England and even one position in Australia.  Never heard back from the international positions though.  I have been rejected from I don’t know how many companies in Chicagoland.  I did get two on-site interviews for polymer-engineering-type positions.  However, they went cold.  In the last month or so I started really pumping out the resumes for thin film/semiconductor positions.  I now have some solid leads spread around the US.
There was a company in North Carolina but I emailed them yesterday and told them to stuff it. They wanted me to put in 60 to 70 hours a week for the first six months and then cut back to 50 plus hours per week while being connected 24/7 to the company and their labs. It felt kind of nice to send a rejection email for a change rather than the other way around.
I still have some other companies interested in me.
Mason, Ohio
St. Paul, Minnesota
New York.
And a few much colder leads, some of which are in Chicago.  So, still not sure about where we will end up this summer…  But that is OK.  One day at a time for me.
In conclusion, the money from the company in North Carolina would have been nice but I would much rather hang out more with my family and stick to a tighter budget.
